After All This Time, Hockey Players Shoving Opponents Into Their Own Goalie Still Remains the Dumbest Move in Sports

Man, this happens constantly. Like, if there’s a word worse than “epidemic,” we need it—‘cause this dumbass move just won’t die. For years, defensemen keep launching dudes into their own goalie like it’s some genius strategy. I even blogged about it back in 2017, it’s been that long.

And what really fries my brain is that after the guy gets yeeted into the goalie, the whole team starts acting like he’s the problem. Like bro, what did you want him to do? Break the laws of physics? Evander Kane gets blasted into Adin Hill, totally truck-sticks him, and somehow it’s Evander’s fault? C’mon. My guy got crosschecked from behind, he’s not Neo from the Matrix.

To top it off, the refs hand him the penalty? Insane. But the Hockey Gods came through. Vegas didn’t score on that weak-ass powerplay, and Kane clapped back with his fourth goal of the playoffs to shut it down 3-0 by the 2nd. You know that one stung for Hill. Kane had dude rent-free in his head all night. Hill went full Binnington . Never go full Binnington, and he paid for it.

TAILGATE REPORT

Only bummer? This series might be toast before the weekend even hits. And these 9:30pm East Coast puck drops? Absolute trash. No way people stay hyped for playoffs when you’re giving ’em Carolina vs. Washington at 7pm and burying heaters like this at bedtime.

I just hope one of these horrible penalty calls/no calls doesn’t decide a game or a series. The decisions these officials make absolutely baffle me.
