Good lord, what a shocking report to say the least. Blowing a .21, empty cans in a trash bag, thinking he was in goddamn Columbus? His using a receipt from Burger King to explain where he was is crazy all around no other words to describe it.
Tbh, I have no clue how this man survived this if we look at that from a WVU standpoint after the radio incident a month ago and the fact that he was on his last strike before this DUI report when they changed his contract to make it year-by-year and give WVU control. You can’t have an incident a month later like this and assume he keeps his job no matter what and If this is how Huggins career ends, man, just wild to think about. The dude came back home to WVU, took them to a Final Four, and finally made the Hall of Fame. Hell, he has a big-time transfer class coming in this year.
As reports say, he resigned but obviously you could look at it as firing, and sure, It also says that Huggins will retire, regardless, what a bizarre career for Huggins. This man turned UC into a consistent team in the 90s prior to his time as a head coach at Kansas State and then came back home to WVU. From there he made a Final Four and finally made the Hall of Fame.
But the way his career ends is so surreal. Having the radio incident along with this DUI report. Mind you that WVU is bringing in the No. 1 transfer class in America and is expected to be decent this season. Now it’s late June and you’re losing a coach like Huggins.
Sure it was expected but still weird enough when think about it given the fact Bob Huggins has fought off retirement or anything like that over the past years, and now this seems to be the last straw for him to take a final decision and resign and let the inevitable happen, especially after his contract was changed to be year-to-year with West Virginia University and it’s a shame this is how this ends.
